night-at-the-museum-3

Release Date: December 19th, 2014

Starring: Ben Stiller, Robin Williams, Owen Wilson, Steve Coogan, Ben Kingsley, Dick Van Dyke, Ricky Gervais, Rebel Wilson

Director: Shawn Levy (This is Where I Leave you, Night at the Museum 1 and 2)

Pre-Trailer Thoughts: I really miss Robin Williams. -LJF

Pre-Trailer Thoughts: How excited should I be about a third Night at the Museum film when the first one wasn’t all that special? Don’t get me wrong. I didn’t hate it but it also seemed like a tragic waste of some of the best comedians in the game (Stiller, Williams, Gervais). Plot-wise if there is one movie mythology I have no interest in exploring, it is the magical tablet that I thought we covered in the first movie. -MK

Rate the Trailer (1-5): One point five out of five. Besides the overwhelming attempt at charm this (now) trilogy exhibits, these movies are solely for kids. Slapstick and goof abound, the Night at the Museum movies have never really appealed to me. I watched the first one a while ago, and even though it was amusing, I fell asleep during it. Despite boasting a solid cast in all three movies, I really just have no interest in this. The trailer helps nothing. -LJF

Rate The Trailer: 1 out of 5. Oh boy. Are we sure this is a comedy? All I saw was Rebel Wilson doing her usual awful shtick, Ben Stiller closing a door a bunch, and a monkey peeing on Owen Wilson. The only funny bit was Lancelot not understanding Teddy Roosevelt, which come to think of it should happen a ton more in these movies. Also, does Lancelot count as someone who would be in a MUSEUM? He wasn’t a real historical figure so does he even fit with the theme of the movie? Otherwise just put Big Bird and Spiderman in the next one. It will be more entertaining. -MK

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? No thanks. I would say otherwise, really, I want to. But the fact is that these movies do not gauge my interest whatsoever. I watched the first one post the passing of Robin Williams but even his presence wasn’t enough to save it. That being said, I’m probably going to skip this, but I hope the kids really enjoy it. -LJF

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? I’ll watch it on TV The worst part is that it will go down as one of Robin Williams’ last films but I think we owe it to him to just watch Mrs. Doubtfire over again instead. -MK

Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb begins its shift on December 19th, 2014.
