TV Recap: WWE Monday Night RAW is Snowed In

We got a treat last night. As the old saying goes, the show must go on, and it certainly did. We got the rewatch the triple threat WWE Championship Match from Sunday night, as well as the Royal Rumble match. In the midst of those, we had commentary and interviews conducted by all members of the broadcast team with some of the winners and losers from Sunday night’s event.

The highlight, while obvious was the triple threat match where one can relive Brock suplexing everyone over and over to or heart’s content, and believe me, I love every moment of that, was in a live face-to-face confrontation between Brock Lesnar and Roman Reigns.

Before you continue the groaning, hear me out.

It was clear the majority of wrestling fans did not want Roman Reigns to highlight Mania against Lesnar, but last night we got something… well, different. Reigns and Lesnar, with some heavy assistance from Rabbi Paul Heyman, cut a simple promo. Cut-to-the-chase, matter-of-fact, or whatever cliché you want to use. Simply put, it was to the point. Heyman taunted Reigns about coming up short, the fans turning on him, and the face he does not have the same abilities as Lesnar.

Reigns accepted and agreed with that. He didn’t cut a promo, he just talked, and finally we saw a way for Reigns to be effective in a non-wrestling capacity. Sure, he still sounds like a Doofus when he tries to use a catchphrase or force a menacing vibe. However, when he talks about how being in the main event of WrestleMania, win or lose, in an incredible opportunity and one he hope not to squander he sounds, human.

This felt like an anti-promo. All they did was talk, and I think without us realizing it until afterwards, might have been the best segment and or promo of Roman Reigns’ career. The guy can talk. Maybe he does not have be over-the-top during his promos, just sound like a normal guy. It won’t happen, but we know its there.

Daniel Bryan got a bit mopey, but accepted his loss at the Rumble and leaves us confident he will find a way to get back on top once again. Seth Rollins, came out of the Royal Rumble with a standing ovation for his incredible ring work, and if anything come Thursday on Smackdown, don’t be surprised if those boos turn to cheers.

Nice comedy spot from Dean Ambrose, this guy has a long future ahead of him. I love this guy.

Not much else to tell, but there’s last night’s RAW in a nutshell.
