When classic comic books become movies it certainly excites us all and puts us on our toes. But what if classic video games become movies? What an amazing idea that would be.

According to reports, Assassin’s Creed, the classic super-hit action-adventure video game, is set to become a film, with Academy-Award nominee Michael Fassbender, from 12 Years a Slave and X-Men, to play the lead role of Callum Lynch.

Produced by New Regency, Ubisoft Motion Pictures, DMC Films and Kennedy/Marshall; co-financed by RatPac Entertainment and Alpha Pictures; and distributed by 20th Century Fox, the film is set to hit theatres worldwide on December 26th, 2016.

Callum Lynch (Fassbender) has the ability to unlock his genetic memory through a revolutionary technology. His memories link him to an ancestor, Aguilar, in 15th century Spain who is a member of a secret society, the Assassins. In present day, Callum uses this knowledge and newly remembered skills to take down the Templar organization.

Justin Kurzel, who has directed Macbeth and Snowtown, will be directing the film, which also stars Academy-Award winner, Marion Cotillard, from Dark Knight Rises and La Vie en Rose.

Production is set to start this Monday, and photography has started to take place in Spain, Matla, and London.
