Five Things We Learned From Marvel’s Agents of Primetime

On Friday, October 9, 2015, Marvel kicked off their New York Comic Con television panels with a special session dedicated to their network programs Agent Carter and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. In typical Marvel fashion, hundreds of fans were treated to exclusive clips, a surprise drop-in, and a special advanced screening. If you were stuck in another panel or missed the con all together, here are the 5 biggest takeaways you missed from Marvel’s Head of Television Jeph Loeb and special guest Clark Gregg:

Agent Carter’s Return

It’s official: Marvel’s Agent Carter will be coming back after this upcoming winter hiatus. Though no official date has been announced (the cast is currently filming right now), we will see Peggy, Edwin Jarvis, and co’s California adventure sometime in 2016.

In addition to the current cast, fans can look forward to seeing Carter’s new charmer Jason Wilkes (Reggie Austin), scientific genius Whitney Frost (Wynn Everett) and her husband Calvin Chadwick (Currie Graham), and the most anticipated new arrival, Ana Jarvis (Lotte Verbeek).

As for the plot, Loeb said this season will be the “same new adventure in a brand new town.” Based on that, It’s safe to say that Marvel’s second series will have another successful season.

Stark’s Car is Exactly What You’d Expect

Before turning the focus to Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., fans were treated to an exclusive clip from the new season of Agent Carter. In the clip, Peggy and Edwin decided to borrow Stark’s car, and were picking it up for the first time. When they entered it, they discovered the vehicle’s special features, including a booze compartment, seats that leaned all the way back, and a mirror on the ceiling (just to name a few). The scene was pure ridiculousness, which is what made it such a great tease for the upcoming season.

More Inhumans Coming to S.H.I.E.L.D.

Marvel started the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. part of the panel with a Q&A session with Jeph Loeb and Clark Gregg, who plays Director Phil Coulson in the series. One of the first questions the audience asked centered around a topic fans of the show have been wondering: Will we see more cast transformations from human to inhuman?

Of course Loeb and Gregg circled around the question with a “Stay tuned!” because in reality, no one wants to hear a major season spoiler. Personally I would love to see a FitzSimmons scientific inhuman superteam, but that’s probably why I don’t write for Marvel Television.

Mutant Encounters are Unlikely As of Now

A funny question that came up during the fan Q&A was whether or not fans will see a S.H.I.E.L.D. and mutant encounter. Though a lot of jokes were thrown around regarding those pesky ownership battles between Fox and Marvel, it’s clear that fans would love to see a crossover. It’s pretty much guaranteed that won’t see this happen anytime soon, but like Clark Gregg said, “One day we will live in a world where all fandoms can interact.”

Next on S.H.I.E.L.D…

Per tradition, the panel capped off with an advanced screening of this week’s episode. To be fair to the Marvel team, I’m not going to give too much away, but I will say that there will be some surprises and of course, a ton of thrills. I’m willing to bet our Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. writer Luke Kalamar is going to have a lot to talk about in this week’s recap.
