Lionsgate recently released the first trailer for Pride and Prejudice and Zombies, the Seth Grahame-Smith parody novel adaptation. The book was a spoof on Jane Austen’s original Pride and Prejudice; reimagining the world as if the Bennet sisters had to fend off zombies.
Lily James beginning narration captures the main theme of the movie, “to succeed in polite society, a young woman must be many things… kind, well-read and accomplished. But to survive in the world as we know it, she’ll need other qualities.” As in the original work, Elizabeth Bennet (Lily James) and her sisters Lydia (Ellie Bamber), Mary (Millie Brady) Jane (Bella Heathcote) and Kitty (Suki Waterhouse) must navigate life in 19th Century England. But in the Burt Steers film the girls will have to ward off zombies on top of the societal pressure that yearns to keep them down.
Besides James, Sam Riley, Jack Huston, Douglas Booth, Matt Smith, Charles Dance and Lena Headey also star. Pride and Prejudice and Zombies will hit U.S. theaters on February 5 of next year.
