New Music Coming Out: Our first single up on SoundCloud, and it’s called “Loser Freaks”. Peep it: https://soundcloud.com/wild-americans

Our Sound Has Been Likened To: We’ve been told that we sound like Foxygen, Mac DeMarco, and MGMT, but we call it mid-tempo space music.

Think back to your first shows — what mistakes have you learned from the most?

Well, Andrew’s strap broke during the first song of our first set, and we learned very quickly to sound check with care, and to make sure all of our gear is fully capable of sustaining the thrashing that lies ahead of it.

What’s he wildest thing that’s ever happened at one of your shows?

Nothing too crazy with this band yet. One time a drunk girl hopped on the mic and tried to sing along with a song of ours that she had obviously never heard. We just opted to let her rock out and enjoy the moment. It was uniquely avant-garde interpretation of our music, to put it mildly.

If someone had never heard your band before and you had to recommend one song for them to check in order for them to truly ‘get’ what your band is about – what song would it be and why?

“Loser Freaks” is a great glimpse into the wave length that we’re vibing on. It sets a tone and brings you into Psychoville where the three of us are mayor.

There are so many bands in the Asbury scene right now – what separates you guys from everyone else?

Our style is odd, everything from the way we look to the way we write music. Our tunes are down in general; mellow and pocketed. We’re not as cool and pumped as a lot of the other Asbury bands. Even in the more up tempo songs, the music seems to convey the acceptance of defeat, without the satisfaction that comes along with acceptance. Doesn’t seem like there are any other bands hitting that vibe, for better or for worse.

What do you love most about being in this band?

Making music is like making magic, you start with nothing then POOF…there’s something. To be able to do that with some of your best buddies is an unreal feeling.

What do you have planned for the rest of 2015?

We’ll be releasing a video for our next single “I Wanna Take You Home,” and we’ll be locked up in our studio space recording for much of the winter months.

Wild Americans perform with Atlas Bloom, Ragged Line and Weakened Friends tonight at Happy Mondays at Wonder Bar in Asbury Park, NJ.
