Enter Zoom gave every character an opportunity to make the wrong decision and boy did they take it. The hell spawn that is Zoom made pretty much everyone look like a chump and the ranking are going to reflect that. The big question is, who caused the problems and who solved them in this week’s Flash Character Coolness Rankings. Below are the completely subjective coolness rankings from Matthew Kelly our resident Flash expert for Week 6. As always, let us know if you agree with our rankings and who you think should be number one in the comments below.

1  Caitlin Snow (previously 8)

Caitlin is going from the bottom straight to the top of the pack this week. In a single scene, she called the entire episode. First, she asked why they should trust Dr. Light at all, who eventually tricked the group and escaped. Then she had the line of the night with her critique of the Speed Dampening Serum. “Oh great. That could be this year’s cold gun. Maybe another criminal could get it and then we’d have Sargent Slow.” Pure gold Caitlin. Finally she nailed the biggest problem with the plan “If Barry can catch bullets, what’s to say Zoom can’t catch whatever you shoot at him.” And that turned out to be EXACTLY WHAT ZOOM DID! Caitlin deserves all of the credit this week and hopefully she will get the respect she deserves in the future.

2  Cisco Ramon (previously 2)

Cisco has been riding high and this week was no exception. Sure, he made mistakes. He freed Dr. Light in the what would normally be the boneheaded move of the episode, had there been no Zoom. (When Patty is figuring out Meta powers before Cisco, things are not going well.) But Cisco gets 100% of the credit for being the one to finally shoot Zoom and that alone has kept him safe at two. Why it worked for Cisco and not for Harry is beyond me but good for Cisco. Also, those cardboard standins he made are perfect.

3  Patty Spivot (previously 3)

Patty is starting to get comfortable at the three spot. This is the classic example of how staying out of it when everyone else is doing the dumb thing is the right move. Not for a lack of trying, Patty was not in any way involved in the awful plan to trap Zoom that had no chance of succeeding and should have gotten everyone killed. She also got another chance to shoot at the problem, which I am never going to tire of.

4  Joe West (previously 7)

Joe has just earned a ton of “I Told You So” points. For two whole weeks he has been telling everyone that fighting Zoom is a horrible idea and indeed it was. That being said, Joe’s idea to give Harry the “rope to hang himself” seems like a good idea until you think about the fact that, had it not been for Cisco, Harry’s failure would have also resulted in Barry’s death and then everyone loses.

5  Iris West (previously 5)

Another decent showing from Iris has put her firmly in the middle of the Coolness Rankings this week. She was responsible for encouraging Barry to use Linda as bait, but that part of the plan really wasn’t where everything fell apart. In fact, that worked well considering how bad the acting was during the mock-fight. Iris really cannot on the hook for too much of what went wrong this episode but she also didn’t offer too much help either and considering how bad things almost ended for Linda, she can’t get away with no blame.

6  Barry Allen (previously 4)

Yikes, Barry. Yikes. Let’s forget about the fact that you revealed your identity to another side character this week or the fact that you are a terrible actor when it comes to faking the Dr Light fight. We have to focus on Barry’s awful attitude and how the fed into all of this failure. This week, it felt like Barry was extra cocky. Maybe it is some residual snark from Harry but whatever the reason, Barry’s singleminded pursuit of Zoom put everyone’s life in danger and ended with Barry’s paralysis. He also got taken into CCPN headquarters for the embarrassment of the century. Can you believe Flash Day was only five weeks ago? I bet Barry can’t.

7  Harrison “Harry” Wells (previously 1)

Oh, how the snarky have fallen. We all knew Harry’s plan would fail. What we didn’t know was the level of complete failure he would achieve. First Zoom doesn’t take the original bait. Then Barry tries to fight him one on one and gets destroyed. Then Harry get involved and essentially tosses Zoom some extra serum to completely de-power Barry so he can take him on the shame tour. Couple all of that with the fact that Harry has been keeping a secret that not only explains everything but would be completely understandable and you have the perfect storm of Flash failure for Harry this week. Welcome to the bottom.

 8  Jay Garrick (previously 6 )

This is not a good week for Earth-2. Some people might say, “Hey, Joe and Jay did the exact same thing this week. They both told the team how dumb the plan was. Why is Joe a 4 and Jay an 8?” Here’s why. Joe told everyone how dumb the plan was and then HE STILL HELPED! He didn’t enable the group but also he wasn’t going to leave them out to get wrecked by Zoom. Jay knows more about Zoom than anyone on the team and the best he can do is leave. I am really starting to believe Harry was right when he called Jay a coward.
