Black Panther Adds Michael B. Jordan To Cast

Looks like The Human Torch is trading in his flame retardant suit for a ticket to the kingdom of Wakanda.

According to a report by The Hollywood Reporter, Michael B. Jordan has joined the cast of the new Marvel Cinematic Universe production, Black Panther. The casting of Jordan should come as no surprise since the actor starred Black Panther’s writer/director Ryan Coogler’s previous two efforts — Fruitvale Station, and Creed.

The Black Panther film will revolve around T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman), the new warrior king of Wakanda who debuted in the MCU in Captain America: Civil War. The film follows T’Challa as he enters his new role as king after the events of Civil War and fights crime in his alter-ego as Black Panther.

Jordan will be joining an already buzzy cast that features the likes of Chadwick Boseman in the title role, and Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o who was cast this week as well.

No word as of yet on what role Jordan will be playing, but rumors over at The Hollywood Reporter have hinted that it may be a villainous role.

Marvel has no comment on this as of yet.

This won’t be Jordan’s first time in the superhero/comic book film universe or even in the Marvel universe. Jordan starred in the super flop Fantastic Four from last summer so heres to hoping Jordan’s talents will be better served in Wakanda and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Jordan is also known for his roles in That Awkward Moment, Chronicle, and HBO’s cult crime series, The Wire.

‘Black Panther’ will be released in Feb. 16, 2018 with production set to start in early 2017.
