I wonder if she will be bringing her “Umbrella.”

In a turn of events in the casting world that maybe not many saw coming, Rihanna has been cast as Marion Crane in the fifth and final season of Bates Motel.

The news comes right on the heels of the shows official San Diego Comic Con panel, which discussed the future of the prequel series to the famous Hitchcock film.

Marion Crane, as die hard fans of the original film Psycho may remember, was played by Janet Leigh and starred in a little known scene that took place in a shower.

When discussing the decision to cast Rihanna in the famous role, executive producers Carlton Cuse and Kerry Ehrin told fans, “We wanted to thrust the iconic role into a contemporary spotlight and redefine it in a meaningful and exciting new way. We also heard Rihanna was a fan of the show, and we were huge fans of hers, so it was the perfect collision of creativity and fate.”

Rihanna will join the already star studded cast including Vera Farmiga as Norma Bates and Freddie Highmore as Norman Bates.

Production for the final season of Bates Motel will begin in fall, and the season is set for release sometime in 2017 on A&E.
