AHS Season 6 Teasers Are Creepier Than The Show

Oh snap!

FX has released three consecutive teasers for Season 6 of American Horror Story via Snapchat, each more cryptic than the last.

Lady Gaga, The Countess herself, then compiled all three on her Twitter.

The first of the teasers features a dark, distant farmhouse in a field of yellow grain. Smoke billows from its top, forming the show’s seasonal logo, the conflated number “6” and question mark. A faint revving chainsaw is heard, followed by, a woman’s screams.

If that wasn’t creepy enough, the next teaser is a baby’s mobile made of rustic farm tools (once again, forming the logo) and knives. In classic AHS jump scares, a demonic hand shoots up and snatches one of the knives.

The last and most chilling of the three, is a close up of a woman’s feet as she runs down a metal staircase. Disembodied hands jut out from each step, reaching for her until one wraps around her ankle.

In previous season announcements, fans always had some inkling of what the plot would be. However this time around, Ryan Murphy has kept the plot under lock and key, with cast members’ lips sealed, the plot of Season 6 is as good as anyone’s guess. From UFO’s, to Hollywood, to the Salem Witch Trials, the series has always drawn from iconic Americana and mythos.

Perhaps, the revving chainsaw and farmhouse is some sort of homage to Leatherface? Or maybe in a show of convoluted crossovers and timelines, could the baby mobile and demon hand be a callback to Tate’s satanic child or the Montgomery’s underground abortion clinic?

The only thing definitive is the show’s return slated for September 14, and Ryan Murphy’s promise at this year’s past Paleyfest, “I will tell you that every darling person [referring to attending cast] up here that wants to come back can come back.”
