Seth Rogen, Evan Goldberg to Adapt Robert Kirkman’s “Invincible” to Big Screen

Robert Kirkman’s ultra violent Image Comics series maybe coming to a close in 2018, but this certainly won’t be the last we see of the blood splattered blue, black, and yellow superhero.

THR reports Universal is slated to adapt Kirkman’s superhero to the silver screen. Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg are working closely with Robert Kirkman. Rogen and Goldberg will write, produce, and direct the adaptation, while Kirkman will produce it via his Skybound Entertainment and his Skybound cohorts David Alpert, Bryan Furst and Sean Furst.

The project falls under Skybound’s first deal with Universal. Invincible was published under Image Comics in 2003, and is set to finally end in 2018 at issue #144. The series follows young Mark Grayson, the son of Omni-Man, a very Superman-esque hero as he struggles with his inherited powers, coming of age, romance, and his father’s dark, deceptive origins. The series gained fame for mashing the superhero genre with uncharacteristic ultra violence.

Kirkman has been in the limelight for some time now with the worldwide success of AMC’s The Walking Dead, and the ongoing Image series as well as Cinemax’s Outcast.

Rogen and Goldberg made their debut as a directing team on 2013’s apocalyptic comedy This Is the End and followed that up with 2014’s controversial The Interview. But the comedy duo are no strangers to the comic book world. As avid fans they went to adapt the Garth Ennis-Steve Dillon comic The Preacher, also on broadcasting on AMC along with TWD.
