DC Streaming Service to Debut with Titans and Young Justice in 2018

Two highly anticipated DC titles are being launched on a shiny new digital platform. Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment are debuting a DC branded direct-to-viewer streaming service in 2018 and will be doing so with the release of the live action Titans series and the long-awaited return of the animated Young Justice.

Titans, written by Akiva Goldsman (Star Trek: Discovery, Underground), DC Entertainment president & chief creative officer Geoff Johns (The Flash, Arrow) and Greg Berlanti (Arrow, DC’s Legends Of Tomorrow, The Flash, Supergirl), explores one of the most popular comic book teams ever. It follows a group of young soon-to-be superheroes recruited from every corner of the DC Universe.

In the action-adventure series, Dick Grayson emerges from the shadows to become the leader of a fearless band of new heroes that includes Starfire, Raven, and others.

A live-action Titans was originally ordered as a pilot by Warner Bros TV sibling TNT in 2014, with Goldsman writing the adaptation alongside Marc Haimes but the project ultimately ended in TV purgatory.

Young Justice, the Emmy-winning DC’s most cult classic, headed by animator Phil Bourassa aired for only two seasons on Cartoon Network, only to be binged by nostalgic fans on Netflix. A third season has been in the works for some time now but it wasn’t made clear what network would be broadcasting the cartoon’s return until now.

In the third season entitled Young Justice: Outsiders, the teenage superheroes of the DC Universe come of age in an animated world of global and super powered intrigue. The team faces its greatest challenge as it takes on meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy.
