Thank Satan It’s Friday: Nothing But Obliteration And A Song About Meth

This might be the heaviest edition of Thank Satan It’s Friday I’ve had the pleasure of writing up yet!

We’ve got absolute vitriol in the form of a new Primitive Man track, a grinding new song from Exhumed for the first time in four years, and a ridiculously heavy track about methamphetamines courtesy of ex-Nile guitarist Dallas Toler-Wade’s new band Narcotic Wasteland. Ready?

Primitive Man – “My Will”

Primitive Man is the sound of complete and utter hate. Not hate for a certain group of people or a certain thing, just the absolute blackness of hate that encompasses everything along with yourself. There’s no other way to describe the band’s sound, though you can hear that abysmal outlook on everything that exists below with “My Will.”

Right from the get go, the song bottoms out and then simply lies there bleeding to death for the next five minutes. Turn it up and destroy your headphones or speakers – this is the death they deserve.

If you’re not deaf at this point, you ought to consider pre-ordering Primitive Man‘s new album Caustic here, due out October 6.

Narcotic Wasteland – “Faces Of Meth”

Nile began in 1993, and in 1997 guitarist Dallas Toler-Wade joined the band. Earlier this year Toler-Wade quit after 20 years, and cranked out the second album for his new main band Narcotic Wasteland.

Sure, it’d be easy for Toler-Wade to coast on his name and craft some decent death metal. It’d make headlines for a little while, they’d probably get a tour or two, and that would be that. Instead, Toler-Wade clearly set out to prove he’s worth hearing outside Nile, and holy hell did he succeed. “Faces Of Meth” is just brutally violent, much like the ensuing explosions that would occur when you try and fail to make math (which we highly discourage).

Narcotic Wasteland will release its new album Delirium Tremens on October 13 via Megaforce Records/MRI, and you can pre-order that here.

Full Of Hell & The Body – “Earth Is A Cage”

Last year, Full Of Hell and The Body collaborated on an album called One Day You Will Ache Like I Ache, which proved one thing – this could not be a one-off project. The two bands together were too damn good as a collective, and this needed to carry on.

Fortunately it has, and the duo of artists have announced a new album called Ascending A Mountain Of Heavy Light. It’s noisy, destructive, and disgusting, though I will warn first-time listeners that The Body vocalist Chip King’s howls take a little getting used to at first. They’re awesome in context, but there’s also nobody that sounds like King and it caught me off guard the first time I heard it.

Ascending A Mountain Of Heavy Light is out November 17, and you can pre-order that here.

Incantation – “Lus Sepulcri”

“Lus Sepulcri” is what I’d imagine the soundtrack to a whirlpool of actual gore and filth would sound like. It draws you in and suffocates you just enough to cause panic, yet lets you breathe for moments here and there to prolong the suffering. In short, it’s one of those times where the overly-used tag “brutal” is actually applicable.

You’d think vocalist and guitarist John McEntee would be out of crushing riffs by now, considering he’s been at it since 1989, but clearly he’s not. Incantation‘s eleventh album Profane Nexus is out today, and you can grab yourself a copy here.

God Mother – “Tar Mirror”

Sweden’s God Mother recently sign to Party Smasher Inc., the label owned by The Dillinger Escape Plan‘s Ben Weinman, and it’s getting pretty hard to avoid listening to them. Giving in is anything but painful, considering the music is a violent cross section of bands like Trap Them and All Pigs Must Die, and The Dillinger Escape Plan themselves.

Check out the crushing, semi-slow new song “Tar Mirror” below, which features Rotten Sound vocalist Keijo Niinimaa. I say “semi-slow” in a sort of catch-all way, considering the first half of the song plods, and then things get taken up a notch as the second half progresses.

God Mother will release Vilseledd on September 29, and there is currently no pre-order available for the album.

Exhumed – “Defenders Of The Grave”

The last we heard from Exhumed was in 2013 with Necrocracy, with a brief showing once more in 2015 with Gore Metal: A Necrospective 1998-2015. The latter was just a cover album of Exhumed‘s 1998 debut Gore Metal, so 2013 was the last proper studio album we’d gotten.

Vocalist, guitarist, and not Mets pitcher Matt Harvey went off to do Gruesome and Expulsion for a few years, but now the band is back with a vengeance! Specifically a concept album-related vengeance about murders and grave robbing in the 1820s in Edinburgh, Scotland, and “Defenders Of The Grave” is a small and bloody bit of that story.

Death Revenge is out October 13, and you can grab a copy here.
