Single Review: ‘Filthy’ by Justin Timberlake

It has been four years since Justin Timberlake has released a studio album. So, you can definitely tell that his fans are highly anticipating the release of his upcoming fourth solo album, Man of the Woods on February 2nd.

Justin Timberlake Tweet #1

“This album is inspired by my son, my wife, my family, but more so than any other album I’ve ever written, where I’m from and it’s personal ” said Timberlake.

Timberlake’s album features contributions from Alicia Keys, Chris Stapleton, the Neptunes, and Timbaland.

Just two days after the release of, Man of the Woods, Timberlake is set to headline the Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

To give his fans a sneak peek of what’s to come, Timberlake released, “Filthy,” the first single and second track on his upcoming album. On Twitter, Timberlake stated that “this song should be played very loud.”

After scrolling through Twitter, I have concluded that there is a fine line dividing Timberlake’s fans thoughts on the new tune.

There are those who absolutely love it:

And of course those who can’t stand it:

However, “Filthy” is an ambitious and funky tune and I don’t know how you can’t smile while listening to it. The vibe is awesome, and it has you grooving around on the first note. It is a song that many can relate to, lyric wise. For example, one line says, “Your friends, my friends and they ain’t leavin’ ‘till six in the morning.” I mean c’mon, we have all experienced this. “Filthy” is a tune you can either blast loudly while cruising around town or while getting down with friends at a club. What else could you want?

“Filthy” is one of four singles expected to be released and it will be interesting to see the thoughts on the upcoming three tracks.

If you haven’t yet, go give the new single a listen on Apple Music or Spotify.
