There was a lot of competition this year. The upcoming Johnny Depp film Mortdecai looks cringe-worthy. I could have simply gone an easy three years in a row of picking a Paranormal Activity film. To be honest though, I was ready to just write in Fifty Shades of Grey, but I wanted to at least look at the 2015 schedule before penciling that impending disaster in. When I saw there was a new Sacha Baron Cohen comedy about an oafish football (soccer) fan on the horizon, I had to sit back for a minute. I thought back to how much I absolutely detested and loathed The Dictator. Add in the fact that Rebel Wilson is also in this one, and Fifty Shades of Grey started to face real competition. Even after all that though, it still wasn’t enough. But then I saw a production photo of Sacha Baron Cohen in Grimsby and I literally got chills. I guess this is what it comes down to – with Fifty Shades of Grey I know exactly what kind of horrors to expect. When it comes to Grimsby though, I really don’t know the levels of atrocious comedy that lay in store for me, and that’s why Grimsby is my pick for the worst movie of 2015.
