Kara is on the run still with the mysterious Kryptonian she saved. She loves asking him questions about Krypton. And, he seems to love answering them no matter how many times she asks. Kara’s memory is still foggy as to why she’s on Earth. And, of course as to how she ended up on Earth.
Tan-On remembers his arrival to Earth very well. He was a scientist on Krypton and he was sent to Earth in order to get a better understanding of the people and their culture. He was given direct orders to not be confrontational. So, he wasn’t. Unfortunately he was taken forcibly and experimented on as we learned in the issue #3.
Kara tries to explain to him that not all humans are like that. But, she also understands his terrible experience and that it will be hard for him to trust them. As they’re learning more about each other Dolly is trying to figure out where Kara has disappeared to. She investigates further in the coaches’ office only to be kidnapped herself. Kara gets a distressing text about Dolly, so she and Tan-On take-off to rescue her.
Kara uses her heat vision to break-in and shortly after making her way inside is captured. Her coach ties her up and uses kryptonite to weaken Kara. She explains that everything she did to Tan-On and what she plans on doing to Kara will save Earth. It doesn’t take long for Tan-On to make a grand entrance using his heat vision too. Except he uses it to kill every person near Kara. The effects are so devastating only bones remain.
Kara is in shock that he just used his powers so grossly to kill that many people. Tan-On is now on a rampage. And, somehow Kara’s coach has survived Tan-On’s attack. She’s badly burned as Kara discovers where she’s hidden Dolly. Unfortunately Tan-On has already retrieved Dolly and has her dangling off the side of the building. He is enraged and wants to blow up the entire building which will kill dozens of people. This also triggers a memory for Kara. She finally remembers why she was sent to Earth. She tells Tan-On Krypton is gone and he rages even more. Kara fights off his heat vision with her ice breath. Funny thing? She wasn’t even sure she could do it until she had to.
As Dolly is recovering Kara tells her everything about her powers and memories. And, dolly shows her a man flying in Metropolis that goes by the name Superman. After Kara says her goodbyes to Jennifer and Dolly she heads to Metropolis. And, the moment all of us have been waiting for happens. The last thing we see is Kara flying up to Superman asking to talk.
This series so far has done a great job of mixing plot points with action. The story is great, and the discovery of powers is exciting. Another exciting thing that’s revealed is Lex Luthor is at the core of villainy in her tale as well. So I figure we’ll soon have a Superman and Supergirl team-up. Oh, and I nearly forgot to mention, Dolly names Supergirl in this issue! I’m excited to see what happens next and rate this one 8/10.
