On Thursday, September 22, 1994 – Rachel Green, Ross Gellar, Chandler Bing, Phoebe Buffay, Monica Gellar and Joey Tribiani sat down for their first cup of coffee at Central Perk. The series, originally titled Insomnia Cafe and then Friends Like Us, came aired on the Peacock Network’s vaunted “Must See TV” line-up, which to this day is still one of the most iconic nights of comedy in television history. Friends aired at 8:30pm sandwiched between the Paul Reiser/Helen Hunt comedy Mad About You and Seinfeld. The show would make Jennifer Anniston, David Schwimmer, Matthew Perry, Lisa Kudrow, Courtney Cox and Matt LeBlanc household names. It would also feature a slew of celebrity cameos including: George Clooney, Tom Selleck, Paul Rudd, Jon Favreau, Giovanni Ribsi, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, Alec Baldwin, Bruce Willis, obin Williams and Billy Crystal.
Today marks the 20th Anniversary of the series so the members of Pop-Break’s television staff decided to reflect on their favorite moments in the series.
