Pop-Press: Shaggy Returns With New Single, “I Need Your Love”

In 2000, reggae artist Shaggy released Hot Shot which featured chart-topping singles “It Wasn’t Me” and “Angel,” Hot Shot. The record would go on to be a diamond certified album and make Shaggy one of the biggest names in reggae music.

It has been fifteen years since Hot Shot, and while he might not be as omnipresent in the pop scene today, Mr. Lover Lover is still a staple of the reggae genre. Right before Christmas, Shaggy released his latest single, “I Need Your Love,” and the track has already reached over 11 million views on YouTube.

According to the press release, “I Need Your Love” features Afro-Pop star Mohombi, and Australian singer Faydee. Shaggy has been bringing his mix of dancehall reggae, pop and dance flavors to audiences for over two decades. Best known for his diamond-certified album Hot Shot and hit singles like “Boombastic”, “It Wasn’t Me”, “Angel” and “Oh Carolina”, Shaggy is nominated for a 2015 Grammy Award for Best Reggae Album.
