Top 10 Summer Box Office Predictions

8. Tomorrowland

tomorrowland-poster

Release Date: May 22nd

Starring: George Clooney, Britt Robertson, Hugh Laurie.

Director: Brad Bird

Analysis: In the last three summers, only three movies appeared on the top ten of highest grossing summer films that weren’t a sequel, or based off a known property, and one of those movies came from Pixar. It’s very hard, but Tomorrowland should be poised to do this. I know it’s sort of based off a theme park attraction, but whatever. This is a totally new endeavor. Having George Clooney doesn’t hurt, and the marketing has been exceptionally strong so far. It opens three weeks after Avengers, and sandwiched in between two quieter weekends by summer standards. I’d be surprised if this wasn’t a big hit.

What It Has Going For It: Looks pretty damn cool.

What It Has Going Against It: Unproven name.

Domestic Take: $176 Million
