The first feature film of J.J. Abrams is a strong one as Mission Impossible 3 is the second best film on this list. One of the biggest reasons for that is the late Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s performance as the villainous arms dealer in the story. His acting caliber elevated the series from being a bunch of explosions barely linked together to a gripping film with an amazing plot. We have real stakes for Ethan Hunt and those he cares about which makes the action scenes that much better. Is it strange to say that this film almost seems like a humble beginning for J.J. Abrams now that he is directing Star Wars: Episode 7?
