Top 10 Star Wars Characters

1. Han Solo – Tommy Tracy

Why I Ranked the Character so High: What is there to say about Han Solo that hasn’t been said before? He’s a bad boy with a heart of gold, caring about money and his ship just as much as he cares about love and loyalty. He’s got a smile twelve parsecs wide, a blaster that never misses and he also gave us the most badass ship in the galaxy, the Millennium Falcon.

When we first see Han in the Mos Eisley Cantina on Tatooine, this smug man and his loyal best friend, Chewbacca, immediately intrigue us. His interaction with the space pirate, Greedo (where we all know Han shot first) to his absolute disrespect of the Force, we’re charmed. His character development is ever growing; he continues to care about riches and fame while also beginning to care about his friends and the love of his life, Princess Leia Organa/Skywalker.

Han Solo is the greatest character in the history of Star Wars. He’s one-upped Darth Vader, Boba Fett, Jabba the Hutt, Greedo and a large variety of Stormtroopers. His ship is the best in the galaxy, his best friend is the coolest creature there is and he has the best (and deadliest) blaster in the entire saga. People can relate to Han; he’s the bad boy we all want to be. He’s the character we cherish the most, the one we love the most and the man who made us fall in love with Star Wars. Han, we love you. And yes, he knows.

Favorite Line: Let’s not forget his incredible dialogue; he’s given the best lines in the saga. Charming, rude, brutally honest, loving and kind of sexual, Han spews out words that you find hard not to believe in. There are too many to list, impossible to pick a favorite and I’m sure any Star Wars fan would agree with me. Here’s a (small) sample of the best, however:

Uh, had a slight weapons malfunction. But, uh, everything’s perfectly all right now. We’re fine. We’re all fine here, now, thank you. How are you?”

“Hokey religions and ancient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid.”

“I love you.” “I know.”

Quintessential Saga Moment: His most defining moment happens in Star Wars (I refuse to call it A New Hope). He leaves the rebellion after he receives his riches but returns just in time to save Luke and assist in blowing up the Death Star. His gigantic smile and incredible holler may seem cheesy to some but you have to remember, he sends Darth Vader into a spiral through space for a very long time. I’m surprised he didn’t throw up with all that spinning. Go Han!
