Even Holmes and Watson are jumping up and down with excitement.

Season four of the long awaited BBC hit, Sherlock, has finally begun filming!

A video was released to the public, along with the announcement, featuring co-creator for the series Mark Gatiss.

The three-episode season will feature Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch), enjoying being back on British soil, while Watson (Matin Freeman) prepares for one of life’s biggest mysteries yet…fatherhood.

Cumberbatch said a few words on his feelings about being back at work for season four of Sherlock.

“I’m genuinely thrilled to be back filming Sherlock with all the cast and crew. I can’t wait for everyone to see Season 4. But you will have to wait …  though not for long … And it will be worth it.”

BBC One has promised a season full of, “laughter, tears, shocks, surprises and extraordinary cases.” Let’s just hope shorter waits between seasons can also be added to that list.
