bill bodkin and logan j. fowler look at the new rom com…
Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. The Five Year Engagement looks to be the kind of half-raunchy, half-sweet comedy, a genre I’ve come to love in the past few years. And of course I’m interested in the film due Jason Segel’s involvement, considering I’ve seen almost all the films he’s been in, and loved them each and every one. The chemistry between him and lead actress Emily Blunt also seems to be undeniable, and I (of course) spotted Allison Brie (Community) in the trailer, which means I’ll have to see this movie considering she’s one of my celebrity crushes. There’s no denying the obvious either; The Five Year Engagement looks to be a solid date movie, and I may use that to my advantage when it releases. With all that said, I’ll be checking this one out for sure around the time it hits theaters. –LJF

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Theater. The Five Year Engagement has a lot going for it — two very funny lead actors and a production team that produced one of last year’s funniest films. It’s almost money in the bank that this film will definitely a.) be a good date flick and b.) evoke a healthy amount of laughs. Sure, the cliches are going to be flying at you fast and furious — but I think the aforementioned chemistry between the hilarious Jason Segel and Emily Blunt, who’s pretty hilarious in her own right, will override any deficiencies the film will have. –BB
