One of Asbury’s hardest-hitting, hardest-rocking groups, The Obvious, will celebrate the release of their newest album Maybe She’s Bored With It on Saturday, April 28 at every punk’s fantasy land–The Asbury Lanes.
To me, and many others who’ve seen this act live, it’s obvious (no pun intended) they’ve got that raw and visceral talent that is second-to-none. And that is something frontwoman Angie Sugrim takes very seriously, as she recently told us “We’re concerned with giving people what they are asking for—a real, intense, sincere, and fun rock show with bands that play from the gut. People really identify with authentic musicians who make thoroughly excellent music for music’s sake, and in a time where Rock & Roll is losing its edge in the mainstream as well as its pop culture viability, people are once again looking to independent acts and clubs for a real and meaningful experience. That’s the goal of this night of in-your-face real and true music.”
Rounding out the bill are a fine selection of the area’s best. Alternative punk act Lost In Society will get the blood flowing as they’ll open the night with their exploding energy. Chemtrail follows in suit with their genre-blending, dynamic performance of instrumental rock. Give Me Static will rock right into to the main attraction with a sound reminiscent of 90s alt rock, yet with a fiery edge.
This is rock ‘n’ roll heaven, right in your backyard. Come get it, your savior has arrived.
