Pop-Press: Mark Tremonti Launches Music Video

from the pop-break newsdesk…

You might know him as one of the premiere axe-man in hard rock today, but in 2012 Mark Tremonti has finally taken the stage as a frontman. With his new project, aptly named Tremonti, Mark has just launched his new single “You Waste Your Time” off his new album, All I Was. The single debuted on iTunes on May 8th and skyrocketed into the Top 10 in its first day.

Below is his music video and more information from the official press release on his single, new record and various projects he’s working on.

(May 18, 2012 – New York, NY) – Mark Tremonti has been causing quite a stir ever since word got out that he would be releasing his first ever solo album this summer under the name Tremonti. Yesterday, he premiered the first music video, “You Waste Your Time,” from the upcoming release on AOL. The video for the song is a performance video that features Mark and fellow band members Eric Friedman on rhythm guitar/backing vocals, Alter Bridge/Creed bandmate Brian Marshall on bass and Garrett Whitlock on drums. The video was recorded at Groovemaster Studios in Chicago and actually uses the live audio from that performance in the studio as opposed to the traditional album overdub music video that has become commonplace.

Tremonti also made noise on iTunes when the single went live on the digital retailer on May 8th. Within a day, the song moved to the Top 10 of the iTunes rock chart at a time when the chart was dominated by songs from the contestants of NBC’s hit TV show, The Voice. The song also received immediate attention at radio and has received critical acclaim as well with ARTISTDirect raving “If “You Waste Your Time” doesn’t solidify Mark Tremonti as one of heavy metal and hard rock’s greatest guitarists…there’s something horribly wrong with the world.” Loudwire declared “If this song is any indication of what fans can expect on the rest of the disc, bring it on!”

All I Was is scheduled for release this July via FRET12 Records, a company Mark started with Daniel Tremonti and Tom Stanley. Long time friend and collaborator Michael “Elvis” Baskette, known for his work with Alter Bridge, Chevelle and Trivium, produced the album. From the first riffs of album opener “Leave It Alone” to the final notes of the closer “Decay,” it is apparent that Mark’s playing and songwriting are at a new level. The metal music influences he grew up on ring throughout the album on songs like “So You’re Afraid,” “Wish You Well” and “Giving Up.” Mark finds his voice; literally, stepping up to the microphone for the first time in his career as a lead vocalist. The depth of his voice carries the melodies on songs like “New Way Out” and “Proof.”

Mark Tremonti is the Grammy Award-winning guitarist and songwriter known for his work in multi-platinum rock juggernaut Creed and with the critically acclaimed, fan favorite Alter Bridge. Having sold over 40 million records worldwide, this is the man behind massive hits like “My Own Prison”, “Higher”, and “Isolation”—just to name a few. His sound is recognizable and has garnered him a loyal fan base worldwide. Guitar World dubbed him “Guitarist of the Year” three consecutive years in a row and he ranked as the “fourth greatest heavy metal guitarist ever” in Total Guitar.
