Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent (but possibly Theater). Man, Lawless looks bad ass. With an all-star cast involved, this tale of brothers who illegally sell product before the authorities come in wanting their share of the dough could be a sleeper hit of the late summer. I haven’t seen much of the film before this trailer but the buzz on it is pretty solid and it looks to be a fun time. My hectic schedule has not allowed for much movie going but if given the chance I would definitely like to catch this one in the theaters. Otherwise, it’ll be upon release rental for sure. –LJF
Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. No offense, but I don’t get why people are getting so hyped about this movie. First off, Shia LeBouf, I hope he holds to his promise of making indie films from now on, because I can do without him in mainstream movies for quite a while. His presence in most films is just downright annoying and if you look at the poster of this film we can play the classic game of “Which of these doesn’t belong?” He gives the same performance in every film and it’s not a good one. Part of me feels he’s going to scream “OPTIMUS!” at Tom Hardy at some point in this film. And you know his character is going to survive at the end…which sucks. However, I must add Lawless has a talented cast and I believe they’ll all be solid, especially Tom Hardy, who’s a terrific actor. But getting back to my gripes — what’s exciting about this film? It looks very run-of-the-mill to me and when it comes to DVD, it’s going to be one of those “Well, I’ve seen everything else, let me give this one a shot” type films. Color me…blah. –BB
I liked BB’s summary, lol. I used to like Shia LeBouf at the beginning of his career, but I’ve gotten really sick of him. The only reason I would watch this is for Jessica Chastain and Gary Oldman, but I don’t think I want to pay for it either.
