ann hale is a dream warrior…
Last night, and this is a true story, I had this strange dream about baby yellow ducks with giant brown mohawks trying to keep me from going into this dangerous haunted house full of the ghosts of satanic woman haters where I most certainly would have faced tortures beyond my imagination. The Chinese food before bed was an awful idea but it chose tonight’s movie for me.
So today, October 9th, I will be watching A Nightmare on Elm Street 3: Dream Warriors.
Dream Warriors picks up from the first film as if the incredibly homosexual under toned Freddy’s Revenge never happened. Nancy (Heather Langenkamp) is now a psychiatrist that specializes in dream therapy in a hospital nearby. The kids she specifically works with are kids who have seen Freddy Krueger. Nancy is working with the kids to realize that they all have special powers in their dreams and that they can use these powers to fight Freddy.
When Freddy kidnaps one of the kids, Nancy must take advantage of the power of Kristen (Patricia Arquette) who can bring the others into her dreams to fight as a group.
To me, this is one of the best ANOES movies in the series. This is the first film where Freddy enters the kids’ dreams and really does some strange shit. Up until now, he was really just this invisible entity slicing and dicing but now he’s a giant snake, he pulls someone into a TV, and he makes someone into a giant puppet using their tendons as marionette strings.
The characters are much cooler, Freddy is more creative and the death scenes are far more entertaining. Basically, this is the film that makes nightmares seem like the kind you have after a 3AM leftover Chinese food binge.
