Notable Openings This Weekend: Closed Circuit, Getaway, One Direction: This Is Us
As per usual, the last weekend of the summer usually coincides with Labor Day Weekend, otherwise known as “Hollywood Doesn’t Care.” But as the summer winds down, one “significant” movie managed to sneak in this weekend and I’m sure it will win the day.
I’ve never heard a single note of a One Direction song. Seriously, I have no clue what they are, but I guess they are in the vein of Justin Bieber or Jonas Brothers. I don’t know, whatever. I’m sure their movie will do well, now leave me alone.
Then we have Getaway, some Ethan Hawke/Selena Gomez car movie that was barely advertised and nobody cares about. There’s also some random thriller, Closed Circuit, that nobody will see.
How Will It All Break Down…
Lamest. Box Office. Ever. One Direction wins, Lee Daniels’ The Butler and We’re The Millers finish 2 & 3 by default. One quick note, these predictions are based on Monday as well for the long weekend.
