Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. Truth be told, I’ve never seen the original Carrie (released in 1976), so I know I should definitely see that before I give this one a go. With that said, I think the remake of the movie based on the novel by Stephen King looks gloomy as hell and stars an actress that we know can be bad ass and evoke sympathy. Chloe Grace Moretz was an inspired choice to play the tortured teenager and while she may not look as terrifying drenched in blood as the original’s Sissy Spacek did, there’s just something about the movie that makes me want to check it out. I think it’ll be a solid rental for sure. After I watch the first one of course. –LJF
Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. The trailer for Carrie gives me no real indication how this movie is going to be that much different from the original. That’s the problem with remakes — if you stray too far from the original people will hate it; if you stick too close to the original people will hate it. Damned if you do, damned if you don’t. I’m on the record as being over Chloe Grace Moretz as the hot young actress of the moment. However, I think she could be pretty awesome as the eponymous character. However, like I said, the movie itself doesn’t do anything for me, it looks like a whole lot of the same. So, this’ll make a solid rental, nothing more. –BB
