Rascal Flatts – Rewind
The newest Rascal Flatts album, Rewind, was released just as the summer began and has sadly flown under the radar. This lack of acknowledgment for a pop/country super group is a serious travesty. This album provides exactly the same quality and emotion and fun that people have come to expect from the Rascal Flatts. Rewind has every element the band has been using to top charts for the past fifteen years and someone needs to exclaim how wonderful this album is.
There is nothing out of the band’s wheelhouse on Rewind, but there does not need to be. The title track and first single is a typical power ballad but because it failed to wow many people and was released months before the new album causing the record to slip through the cracks. The more exciting second single, “Payback” was just released in June and is hilarious. It is about a man willing to be used by a woman so she can get some payback on a man who did her wrong. This song is rejuvenating the album but the reason this is a true summer album success is “DJ Tonight.” This song is the perfect pop/country summer jam that leads you to want to roll down your windows and cruise and bop along in the car. The Rascal Flatts have a habit of making feel good albums that take you on an emotional journey without taking anything too seriously. If you’ve ever enjoyed a Rascal Flatts song, including their cover of “Life is a Highway,” you will find something on this album to love. Give it a shot. I dare you. -Lisa Pikaard
