Upstart Fest Storms Back Into the Northeast This Fall

AUGUST 1, 2014: The Northeast’s “Biggest Punk Rock Party” is gathering its troops for a fourth year of organized chaos. Taking place in nine cities throughout the northeast including Philadelphia, Baltimore, Asbury Park, NJ, Brooklyn, and Cambridge, MA among others, Upstart Fest is nothing short of a punk rock barrage.

Upstart Fest begins on September 25 in Baltimore, MD at Sidebar with headlining acts The Virus, The Svetlanas (USSR), Left Alone, and The Sharp Lads. Other regional acts include: Walk the Plank, Radical Discharge, and Friendbeast. The festival will spin its way through Philly the following night at Connie’s Ric Rac with additional acts The Obvious and Uzuhi (Japan). The fleet will storm Asbury Lanes in Asbury Park, NJ on 9/27, Brooklyn’s Knitting Factory on 9/28 and Fuzebox in Albany 10/1.

But the party must go on. The popular establishment in Poughkeepsie, The Chance, will host the fest on 10/2 followed by Artsriot in Burlington, VT on 10/3. New England will get battered again on 10/4 at Geno’s in Portland, ME with a raucous ending in Cambridge at TT The Bear’s Place on 10/5.

Some of the fiercest and talented punk acts across the region and beyond will be making appearances – including New Red Scare, Two Fisted Law, Trophy Lungs, Stray Bullets, The Murder Weapon, Dead Man Ramsey, As We Were, Earl Grave, Hand the Match, Cutters, Poor Lily, Ninevotes Short, Bourbon Scum, Radical Discharge, Ides, TV Tramps, Pulling Punches, and Wayward Ones.

“We could not be happier to have Upstart Fest marking its fourth year,” said Travis Myers, Upstart mastermind and festival founder. “I never would have guessed that a one day twelve-band show in 2011 would grow into a nine city tour featuring dozens of amazing acts from different corners of the world, or that the response and support would be so great from the fans and music community as a whole. Upstart has really taken on a life of its own.”

Tickets will be available at the door for each date. For a complete line-up, dates, news, band bios and more, visit www.upstartfest.com.
