Pop-Break Live: Gwar (Starland Ballroom)

pop-break-live.jpg

We’re kind of ambivalent about the return of GWAR to The Starland Ballroom in Sayreville, New Jersey. We’re still bummed about the passing of Dave Brockie (aka Oderus Urungus) from earlier this year. Brockie gave us one of the funniest interviews we’ve ever run on the site and not having him at the helm of GWAR still kinda sucks. Yet, we’re totally okay with the band continuing on – because they’re doing in his memory. And we’re stoked to see the band back on tour with Blothar (Mike Bishop aka the original Beefcake the Mighty) and Vulvatron on the lead vocals. The crowds at Starland Ballroom definitely agreed as they packed the house of a night filled with GWAR-tastic theatrics.

Jeff Crespi donned his rain slicker and caught the show for the site.
