If you’re a fan of FX’s Archer, you probably remember seeing the Belcher family in the Season 4 premiere. Naturally, being a fan of both shows, myself and Pop-Break.com editor Al Mannarino had to ask H. Jon Benjamin and Larry Murphy Jr. if another crossover episode was in the works, specifically with the Archer cast in the Bob’s Burgers universe.
“I don’t think Loren Bouchard [creator of Bob’s Burgers] has any plans for doing something like that.” Benjamin said, “The Archer one was really popular but it’s hard to do without being gimmicky.”
Though we won’t see another Belcher-Archer encounter anytime soon, Benjamin and Murphy Jr. did give the entire roundtable full of journalists a glimpse as to what we can expect in the sixth season of Bob’s Burgers. The two voice actors, who play Bob Belcher and Teddy respectively, revealed the Belchers’ upcoming adventures including a ghostly romance on Halloween, a wild turkey invasion on Thanksgiving, and an awkward family reunion on Christmas. In addition, the two told us to look out for some familiar guest voices, specifically Bill Hader and Carl Reiner.
“Bill Hader plays my dad in the Christmas episode,” Benjamin admits, “I think we have an awkward reunion. Bob and his dad were not particularly friendly.”
After previewing the upcoming holiday-centric episodes, our roundtable was then treated to Benjamin and Murphy Jr.’s thoughts on Bob’s Boners, the newly released porn parody of the cartoon. The pair only saw the trailer when we sat down with them at New York Comic Con, but both were excited about their porn counterparts.
“We were very complimentary about it,” Benjamin said, “I think always that, someone is going to make a porn with everything. So eventually someone was going to get around to it.”
“I saw that guy,” Murphy Jr. exclaimed, excitedly pulling up a picture of the Bob’s Boners version of his character Teddy on his phone, “I was surprised I wasn’t approached.”
“Well based on what he did, you could have done it,” Benjamin joked, garnering a few laughs from my fellow journalists as Porn Teddy only said one line.
“More than one person sent me a still of this,” Murphy Jr. said, “I thought that guy was great, really good.”
