Mad Bracket Status is a comedy podcast created by Pop-Break writers Matt Kelly and DJ Chapman. We create pop culture related brackets based on things we have always argued about. Which Game of Thrones character is the hottest? What is the definitive Cagest movie? Who is the ultimate giant robot? Once the brackets are made, the audience votes on the match ups (at www.madbracketstatus.com) to determine a champion.
A bracket lasts about a month, with each round taking about a week. On the show, we bring a guest on to go over the results and talk about the upcoming match ups. We also release mini-episodes. Some are interviews with completely real and in no way fictionalized versions of competitors from the brackets. In the past we have had on Donald Trump, The Joker, and Optimus Prime. Our other mini-episode is the new segment called “Reckless Speculation” where we speculate recklessly on a specific topic. Our most recent topic was Avengers: Infinity War.
The current bracket we are working through now is the Best Billionaire Bracket. We compiled a bracket with 16 real and 16 fictional billionaires. The real side includes people like Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Richard Branson, and Donald Trump. The fictional list includes the likes of Tony Stark, Seto Kaiba, Scrooge McDuck, and Smaug. At the final round, the best real and fictional billionaires will face off to decide the grand champion.
