7. Revenge of the Nerds II: Nerds in Paradise (1987)
To be honest, there’s nothing hysterical about this movie, it was just consistently full of chuckles. No joke completely bombed, but nothing made you fall on the floor laughing. I would say Booger (Curtis Armstrong) was the character to really shine here. He was good for a ton of laughs, especially while wearing his “Who Farted?” t-shirt. We also get an awesome cameo from James Hong who trains Booger to hock the ultimate loogie. That’s pretty funny. It’s funny to watch Bradley Whitford in one of his earlier roles play the villain Roger Lattimore, the ultimate Alpha Beta asshole. Much like you would never get another character like Tanaka from Major League II, we will never see another character like Lamar (Larry B. Scott) again. The stereotypes are laid on pretty thick in both cases, and that stuff won’t work in today’s movie climate. Revenge of the Nerds II may not be perfect, but it’s certainly better than Revenge of the Nerds III: The Next Generation and Revenge of the Nerds IV: Nerds in Love. It’s only a matter of time before some Hollywood executive reboots this series.
