6. Addams Family Values (1993)
This one isn’t too far off from the original, although that one did have the mamushka. Everyone here is on their A-game, and I wish this could have been Raul Julia’s final film as opposed to Street Fighter. That would be like watching Peyton Manning play his final game as an Oakland Raider. The main plot of this crazed nanny (Joan Cusack) marrying Fester (Christopher Lloyd) and “accidentally” killing him to get his money is pretty solid, but the reason this movie works so well is actually the subplot. Wednesday (Christina Ricci) and Pugsley (Jimmy Workman) going to a preppy uppity summer camp was a brilliant concept, and it paid off big time. Ricci gives a real underrated performance here, as do the overly enthusiastic councilors played by Peter MacNicol and Christine Baranski. Both Addams Family movies are good for a lot of laughs.
