3. Wayne’s World 2 (1993)
I think this is a sequel that everyone universally respects. The first Wayne’s World for me is the funniest movie ever made, so obviously this film isn’t in the same league as that one, but it’s still pretty damn good. Mike Myers does his trademark repeat jokes from the previous film strategy, but it pays off pretty well here. We also get a weird naked Indian (Larry Sellers), so that’s pretty funny, and Chris Farley makes for a great supporting role as Milton. The standout new character though has to be Del Preston (Ralph Brown), the god of roadies who constantly repeats the same M&M story. That’s hilarious. In classic Mike Myers fashion, there’s a ton of great cameos, including one from arguably the greatest actor who ever lived. The Graduate parody at the end also works on all levels. The biggest fault of this sequel though is with Garth (Dana Carvey). For one of the funniest characters of all time in the original, he was just okay here. The Kim Basinger subplot didn’t work for me, and that’s always going to stick in my craw when I think of this film. Despite that though, this is a very worthy effort and still funny to this day. I always wanted a Wayne’s World 3, but I think it’s safe to say that ship has sailed.
