Pre-Thoughts: I knew nothing about this movie before watching the trailer, but the colorful posters and the great cast certainly have me intrigued. -LJF

Pre-Trailer Thoughts: I’m getting a hardcore American Hustle vibe here and that can work in this film’s favor. – LK

Rate the Trailer: Four out of Five. This just looks like a fun time. It seems that Paul Thomas Anderson is trying his hand at comedy when most of his other work has been pretty straight forward. While Inherent Vice would have more in common with something like Boogie Nights, that movie was pretty dramatic. Needless to say, the attempt here could pay off and it looks good. As I said before, you can’t beat that cast; it’s pretty much all up to them. -LJF

Rate the Trailer: Four out of five. This trailer makes Inherent Vice look like one awesome movie with some ridiculous talent. Joaquin Phoenix, Josh Brolin, Owen Wilson, Guillermo del Toro, Martin Short, the list goes on and on. It also appears to strike that delicate balance of comedy and drama, and Phoenix is a big reason for that. That guy is easily one of the best actors in the business right now. Turning him into this obviously drugged up private detective looks like a good time. The only reason this isn’t a five is because of the American Hustle comparison. I’m getting the same type of excitement with this trailer but I remember American Hustle not exactly reaching the highs I thought it would (I still loved it). Hopefully Inherent Vice can match my expectations. – LK

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. Inherent Vice is one of the movies that would probably be good for a solid rental. There’s really no need to rush out to the theater for this one; nothing is lost on the small screen. That being said, hopefully it does do well box-office wise. It looks like a fun time, one that I will hopefully be having when it comes to video. -LJF

Theater, Rent, No Thanks, Undecided? Rent. The only thing stopping me from seeing this movie in theaters is my schedule. I honestly don’t know if I have time to catch it. That makes this a surefire rent. If I miss this on the big screen, I am definitely grabbing a day to watch it at home. This looks like it could be a great movie.-LK
