6. The Ins and outs of Love
Classic/Terrible Love Song: ‘Truly Madly Deeply’ by Savage Garden Rockin’ Replacement: ‘Weenie Ride’ by Steel Panther
“Truly Madly Deeply” by Savage Garden. Let’s get one thing straight; this song is creepy. Like really creepy. “I want to stand with you on a mountain/I want to bathe with you in the sea.” Ignoring how weird and geographically inconvenient those activities are leads us to a simple premise; it’s just a man writing a song to a girl, telling him all the things he wants to do with her. Weenie Ride accomplishes the same thing, but adds soulful piano playing by drummer Stix Zadinia and a bitchin’ solo by guitarist Satchel. “If you’ve ever been to Disneyland/You know the lines can be real long/But I got a ride that the bitches love/And you won’t have to wait at all.” Here’s a tip for the guys, that’s called a compromise. You get to have sex, and she doesn’t have to wait to have sex. He is putting her needs first, because love is a give and take…or something.
