Rex Manning Day at Rough Trade in Brooklyn – Featuring: GWAR, The Mosers and Born Cages.
On April 10, BBQ Films along with Brooklyn’s record store/concert venue Rough Trade and Bowery Presents produced the official Rex Manning Day celebration.
The day was a huge concert and fan gathering to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the original Rex Manning Day as portrayed in the seminal Gen-X cult classic, Empire Records. The film, which starred Liv Tyler, Anthony LaPaglia, Renee Zelwegger and Maxwell Caufield as Manning himself.
The day included Rough Trade being transformed into the film set, performances by New York City’s Born Cages, horror metal legends GWAR, and The Mosers – Rex Manning’s band.
Pop-Break’s Saidy Lopez caught the entire, glorious day for us.
Here’s a little bit about the great outfit known as BBQ Films — “We are first and foremost fans. Fans of music, fans of film, and fans of the stories that make us who we are. We are a creative community (called the film crew) that is over 200 strong that come together to celebrate these pictures. Our producers and our film crew work with the spaces we select to build worlds around the films we screen.”
