I tend to look like a moron when predicting Marvel movies, and I definitely left myself open for that once again. Ant-Man’s box office will be just fine, but it’s going to be low by Marvel standards. I feel like this is a movie Marvel just wants to get through. The fact that Edgar Wright left won’t hurt the box office as not many people outside the nerd blog community go see his films anyway, but trailers make this movie feel rushed and hackneyed. The dialogue in both trailers is so clichĂ©, it makes me want to puke up red ants. I know Marvel blew the doors open with a talking raccoon and tree, but that movie had great buzz. I don’t think that’s going to happen with Ant-Man. The brand name will give it the money it needs to make, but for Marvel, it’s a movie that will come and go.
What It Has Going For It: Marvel.
What It Has Going Against It: Everything about it looks mediocre and silly.
Domestic Take: $180 Million
