The Mindy Project Cancelled By Fox – But is Hulu on The Horizon?

Nobody likes a break-up — especially when you love the two parties involved as a couple.

That being said, reports are in that The Mindy Project, which has been a part of FOX’s comedy block for the past three seasons, has been cancelled.

The series, created and starring Mindy Kaling in her first post-Office role, premiered in September 2012. The sitcom featured Kaling as Mindy Lahiri an OB/GYN living in New York City and dealing with the insane characters that inhabited her office. One of those included the cranky, hyper-Catholic, former exotic dancer Danny Castellano (Chris Messina), who eventually became Mindy’s love interest, then boyfriend, then baby daddy. The two became one our favorite TV couples.

The show garnered a cult following, but according to reports could not overcome poor ratings, and FOX made the decision not to bring the series back for the new TV season.

However, reports are stating that The Mindy Project is not done – in fact it could be alive for multiple seasons – as Hulu is very interested in acquiring the series.

This would be a massive coup for Hulu, as this series is hands down one of the funniest sitcoms on the air right now. Let’s hope this deal goes through and we’re not bemoaning Mindy’s loss like we have been for Happy Endings.
