Live Nation To Bring The Fillmore to Philadelphia
The present day allows us the freedom to listen to music in all its forms: vinyls, cassette tapes, CDs, MP3s as well as the ever popular streaming such as Spotify and Pandora. But nothing can replace the experience of witnessing your favorite bands perform live in venues that have paved the roads for artists before them.
Live Nation has recently unveiled plans to completely transform the Ajax Metal Company building in Fishtown, Philadelphia into The Fillmore set to open in the fall of 2015. A space described as “a music hall to top all music halls” will be able to hold a capacity of 2,500 people, feature state-of-the-art production, VIP amenities, live music clubs, and friendly staff to truly intensify concerts as a whole.
The original Fillmore, which opened in San Fransisco in 1965, was a main attraction during the “psychedelic music scene” during the 60s and 70s helping put iconic bands such as Led Zeppelin, The Doors and the Grateful Dead on the map amongst many others.
Now, it’s Philadelphia location will set out to join what is already a city known for its proud musical roots, with hopes to go beyond the typical concert experience. Aside from vintage decor and up to date equipment, the venue will serve local dishes such as burgers and cheesesteaks along with craft beers, wine and a small batch of liquors.
The Fillmore will also include another live music club known as The Foundry, located on the top floor of the venue. The smaller space gives concertgoers a more intimate show experience and will feature smaller touring bands, DJs, and local acts.
The “Circle Bar,” a luxury bar, will occupy the second floor and lounge where guests can enjoy VIP benefits such as private entry, top of the line alcoholic beverages and food, comfortable seating and private restrooms. Circle Bar, which is also connected to club boxes and seats on the mezzanine level, can even be used for pre and after parties or during the concert as well.
Apart from the Fillmore in Philadelphia being described as what will be “a beautiful pounding music machine,” Rob Benson, President of Live Nation’s House of Blues Entertainment Division, stated in a press release that the venue will “feature the best sound system of any club its size, unparalleled sightlines, and remarkable food and beverage, making it more than a place for a concert. It will be a true experience.”
