The WWE-Ek: Time to Climb!

Jim Ross posted a very good read this week. It is about his thoughts and opinions on the wrestling industry, and goes into very honest details about how those who get upset at his words take them to heart too seriously. Ross discusses how his opinions are not designed to attack, but to provide constructive criticism, to help the business, not to hurt it.

I have Lewis Black’s The Rant Is Due on in the background as I type up the column this week, so forgive me if I suddenly go into a profanity laced tirade. I love Lewis Black. He dropped at least five f-bombs during the last sentence.

In any case, it is one of those weeks where the calm is settling before the storm. Next Sunday night is yet another major event, WWE Money in the Bank. We recall who won last year, the current WWE World Heavyweight Champion, Seth Rollins. Eyes will be on the winner this year. We have seen a few cash-ins fail, but I believe Seth Rollins upped the game on how to carry the Money in the Bank briefcase until the cash-in. So far the announced participants are Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, Adrian Neville, Roman Reigns, Sheamus, Randy Orton, and recently added, Kane.

Right off the bat, I can say Neville and Kingston are there for the shock value. There is no chance in hell Kofi will win, and Neville. Well, I would be shocked if they gave it to him. It would be awesome as all hell, and I would not see it coming.

Also lined up is the second match between John Cena and Kevin Owens. It seems the King of KO is on the fast-track to the main roster, but yet again, no title on the line. The gimmick for the feud, I guess, is Owens is “too good” for a title Cena is holding. I love the face the NXT Championship is on RAW. We also have Seth Rollins defending the WWE Championship against Dean Ambrose in a Ladder Match. How awesome is that?

The Prime Time Players are getting their long overdue Tag Team Title match. Will they win? Who knows. I did not expect to see Cesaro and Kidd drop the belts so quickly to The New Day, so on one hand, we could see another unexpected title change, or New Day continues their winning ways. I have said it since he made his debut, but Titus O’Neal has HUGE potential to be the next Ron Simmons, and by that, I mean the next World Champion.

Speaking of Tyson Kidd, it is out there Kidd was injured during a dark match with the newest acquisition, Samoa Joe. Granted, the guy is signed to an NXT deal, but still good to see him dancing with the main roster. Except Kidd got hurt. I do not know details, but I do hope Joe was not the direct cause. That, would suck. I really cannot wait for Joe to start competing full-time with NXT. Seems like it will be a good fit for him.

I have not kept up with Impact Wrestling, due to not having Destination America, however I have seen a lot of changes, which hopefully keeps the company afloat a little longer. Rockstar Spud breaking into the main event, challenging Kurt Angle for the company’s top title. Except Austin Aries is right there to challenge the champion following that match. So, good waves for TNA/Impact, let’s see what their future holds.
