Warner Bros Productions and Mojang have officially announced the Rob McElhenney as the new director for the upcoming film, Minecraft. Mojang COO Vui Bui, released the official statement on their site earlier today writing, “Some of you may have seen this guy hanging around MINECON in London a couple weeks ago. He’s Rob McElhenney, and he’s going to be directing the upcoming Minecraft movie.” McElhenney is most known from FX’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, which he created, directs, and stars in.
Minecraft is an extremely popular videogame, boasting 100 million registered users. According to the official Minecraft description, the game is “about breaking and building blocks.” However, it can expand to much more to creative and imaginative players. The film currently has no set release date.
