TMZ broke the news moments ago that WWE Hall of Fame Legend, “Rowdy” Roddy Piper passed away on Thursday night, found Friday morning. He was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma in 2006, but was reported to have been free of cancer at the time of his passing. Piper was 61.
Piper, real name Roderick Toombs, was an icon in the wrestling industry. Having made his mark in the wrestling surge in the eighties, Piper enjoyed a long and storied career well into the new millennium. Inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2005, Piper was a man who commanded attention with an uncanny ability to own the microphone.
On behalf of the staff of Pop-Break, we extend our condolences to the Toombs family.
