Ranking The First Four Vacation Movies

2) Christmas Vacation (1989)

I already wrote this up for the 25 Days of Christmas last year, and yes, I’m aware I declared this the third best Vacation movie at the time, but I’ve changed my mind. While this might be the most inconsistent Vacation of them all, when it hits, it hits big. The first half hour is kind of rough. It’s just not funny. The car chase at the beginning is pathetic. Juliette Lewis’ acting in particular as Audrey is a little rough. As the movie goes on though, and Clark starts to get more rattled, it really picks up steam. The no Christmas bonus rant is classic. I’d also be lying if I told you I didn’t find the squirrel chase funny. Anything involving animals in this movie made me laugh really hard. Where this Vacation works where Vegas and European fail is that it once again captures what is so funny about Clark. The more he tries, the funnier it is when he crashes and burns.

  1. ummm NO, moron.

Vegas Vacation is the best movie in the series BY FAR.
Then Christmas Vacation for being an amazing Christmas movie, then the original for being just above okay, and European is dead last because Europe just sucks.

    Stay clueless, asshat ; )
