8. Will envisions Hannibal force-feeding him Abigail’s ear
In the Season 2 premiere, Will is still in the Baltimore State Hospital for the Criminally Insane, after Hannibal framed him for cannibalizing Abigail Hobbs, as a result of Will coming to close to discovering Hannibal’s murders. Will is adamant that he did not kill Abigail in a fit of insanity and that Hannibal is setting him up, but he doesn’t have any proof. Late in the episode, in a cross between a daydream and a flashback, Will imagines Hannibal forcing Abigail’s ear down his through with a tube. It’s self-explanatory why this is horrifying. To make things worse, the vision is accompanied by the sound of a tube being stretched and scrunched over and over (I think).
I’d like to say kudos to composer Brian Reitzell for taking the scene to a whole other level.
