Logan Fowler – The Goldbergs
I don’t have a huge range of sitcoms that I watch currently on TV. However, The Goldbergs stands out as one of the best shows ever, even though it hasn’t been on that long.
Each episode consists of a formula-dysfunctional family that uses one or more members to dish out an embarrassing moment fixed by end of the 30 minutes. However, it’s how we get through these moments that are really the funniest, and ultimately, really memorable. You see, The Goldbergs uses the decade of the 1980’s as a springboard for ideas, whether it be music, movies, or pop culture in general. However, the show doesn’t rely on it solely to get points across. That being said, any reference seen or heard is a bonus, and it adds to the humor of being a kid growing up in that era, which I was, and one of the reasons why I love the show. Adam Goldberg (played by Sean Giambrone) and I are one and the same, at least almost.
The Goldbergs also has a lot of heart; think of it more like a raunchier, more modern (despite ’80s backdrop) Full House. What more needs to be said? If you aren’t watching this show, you are sorely missing out. If you love anything from the 80’s, whether it be memories or recent rediscovery, you owe it to yourself to put down your hamburger phone, put on your Reebok pump shoes, cuddle your Care Bear, and check out The Goldbergs.
