In the past few months Netflix and Marvel have been unveiling new shows as part of Marvel’s Defenders with the recent release of Jessica Jones and the soon-to-be sophomore season of Daredevil. They have also made a loose timelines for other shows and the expansion of the Marvel universe on Netflix.
Yesterday, Iron Fist has officially been added to the roster with the appointment of showrunner Scott Buck. Up until this point rumors had been flying about that Iron Fist would never come to fruition but the hiring of Buck, who has worked on Dexter and Six Feet Under, has assuaged fans fears.
Marvel describes the Iron Fist series as, “returning to New York City after being missing for years, Daniel Rand fights against the criminal element corrupting New York City with his incredible kung-fu mastery and ability to summon the awesome power of the fiery Iron Fist.” Though no timeline has been released for the show, it is safe to assume, with the recent debut of Jessica Jones as well as Luke Cage in production and Daredevil’s season two on deck, that Iron Fist won’t be premiering until sometime in 2017.
